The doctors at Palmer's are on call each day
for our existing clients. In the event of an after hours emergency,
simply dial our normal business phone number. Our answering service
will quickly page our Large or Small Animal veterinarian who is on
call. The doctor will return your call and advise you how to handle
your emergency.
ANIMAL POISON
CONTROL HOTLINE : 1-800-213-6680
Their mission is to keep animals
healthy and safe. There are significant costs to providing a hotline,
but The Animal Control Hotline receives no funding from state or
governmental agencies. They will work with you and your veterinarian
until the case is resolved.
The Animal Control Hotline
charges pet owners $35.00 per incident. Please be prepared to give
them a credit card number if you call them with a poison crisis,
or if we need to call them on your behalf.
The Animal Poison
Control Hotline can manage exposures from :
- Animal and Human medications
- Plants
- Pesticides and Herbicides
- Household Cleaners and chemicals
- Paints, varnishes
- Snake bites, bee stings, and other
venomous bites
- Foods and household decorations
Poison Control Hotline is directed by
Lynn Hova RPh, DVM, MS,DAVCIM. Dr.
Hovda has over 15 years of poison center experience. She is a nationally
recognized speaker and author on veterinary toxicology. She is also
supported by Frederick W. Ochme BS, DVM, MS, PHD. Dr. Ochme
is a professor of Toxicology Medicine and Physiology, at Kansas

The ASPCA Poison Control Hotline offers
pet owners another source for poison and toxicity help. Similar
charges are required for their services, also.
